Tarragonès is a comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain. It is one of the three comarques formed in the 1936 comarcal division of Camp de Tarragona. It lies on the Mediterranean coast, between the comarques of Baix Penedès to the northeast and Baix Camp to the south. Over 60% of the population live in the capital, Tarragona.

Tarragonès is on the Costa Daurada, and with Baix Camp and Alt Camp makes up the Camp de Tarragona, a broad coastal plain ringed by the mountains of the pre-coastal range. It is crossed by the lower valleys of the Francolí and Gaià rivers and has a chain of sandy beaches that stretches from Salou to Altafulla, Torredembarra and Arc de Berà, with the great port of Tarragona in the middle. The history of Tarragonès is closely linked to the city of Tarragona, Roman Tarraco, which was the capital of Hispania Tarraconense. In mediaeval times it became a metropolitan archbishopric of the crown of Catalonia and Aragon. The year 2000, the UNESCO declared the city of Tarragona world heritage due to the wealth of its roman archaelogical remains.
Agriculture and seafaring activities (fishing, sailing), industry and trade (exporting wine and eau-de-vie) faded into the background when the huge petrochemical complex was developed in the 60s. Tourists, drawn by the mild climate, which makes it possible to play sports all the year round, the gastronomy and the architectural heritage, have increased in numbers in recent years and the city now boasts a major tourist infrastructure.
