Perpignan airport is the most southerly in France and is overshadowed by the massive bulk of  the Canigou peak,  at 2785m, the highest in the southern Pyrenees.

The proximity of the mountains makes the weather a little capricious and it is often quite windy.  The airport is found between junctions 41 and 42 of the A9 motorway and is well signposted.  Don’t be misled by the sight of four or five aircraft parked close to the road.  This is not the airport – just follow the signs

Perpignan Airport Arrivals
With any luck you will get a lovely view of the Pyrenees as you come in to land.  Arriving at the airport is a no-fuss operation.  Steps are wheeled up to the aircraft door and passengers disembark straight down onto the tarmac and walk the few yards to the terminal building.

If returning a hire car, don’t miss the left turn signposted “Park Louers” which takes you into P2. If you do miss it, carry on past the front of the terminal, swing round to the left in a U turn (don’t go into the public car park) and go back to what will now be a right turn.

In P1 you get 15 minutes free and the first hour is 1.60. Two hours costs 2.20 euros. Take a ticket on entry and pay at the pay station before departure.
